It�s easy to assume that by buying tickets and attending concerts the symphony will be well supported and continue to grow and flourish. Certainly without doing that there would be little reason for the symphony to exist at all! But the fact of the matter is that Bartlesville Symphony ticket sales account for only around 38% of the total budget. The remainder of the symphony�s income comes from grants and donations. A few of these are major grants, such as those from the Oklahoma Arts Council, and some are larger corporate or foundation grants. The Bartlesville Symphony Society also makes a substantial annual donation from its fundraising efforts. But most are donations from our individual community supporters and audience members�donations that are given above and beyond the price of tickets purchased.

The Bartlesville Symphony has always worked to be deserving of the tremendous community support that it receives. And the symphony continues to benefit from its special place in the heart of the Bartlesville community. But as most are aware, these are difficult times for performing arts organizations nationwide. We are thankful that the Bartlesville Symphony continues to provide great musical experiences for our community, yet the challenges remain.

In order for the Bartlesville Symphony to remain viable and effective�and ideally to grow�in its role in enhancing the quality of life in our special community, it remains crucial that the largest number of individuals, businesses, foundations and corporations possible continue to support the symphony in its efforts. In difficult times when difficult decisions are made daily at the governmental, corporate or personal level regarding the distribution of funds, the encouragement of those institutions which feed the individual and community soul become becomes even more important.
